Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 6, 2026

Overview

Memento is built on a simple promise: Your personal information belongs to you. Your data is stored on your device and, if you are signed into iCloud, synced privately to your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service. We do not have access to your iCloud data. We do not sell or share your data with third parties.

What we collect

Memento stores the following information locally on your device:

  • Date of birth, biological sex, and country, used to calculate your life estimate
  • Names and relationship details of people you add (family members, friends, and pets)
  • Any personal notes or context you choose to enter
  • App preferences and settings

This information is stored locally on your device. If you are signed into iCloud, it is also synced to your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service so your data is available across your devices and preserved if you switch devices. This sync is encrypted and private to your Apple ID. Memento cannot read, access, or retrieve your iCloud data.

iCloud sync

If you are signed into iCloud, Memento uses Apple's CloudKit service to sync the following data across your devices:

  • Profile information (date of birth, biological sex, and country)
  • Names and ages of people and pets you add
  • Survey progress
  • App preferences

The following data is never synced:

  • Health data. It is read from HealthKit on your device at the moment of calculation and is not stored or transmitted.
  • Payment information. It is managed entirely by Apple.

Your synced data is stored in your private iCloud container, encrypted and accessible only to your Apple ID. Memento has no access to it.

You can disable iCloud sync at any time in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud → Memento.

Health data

Memento Premium may request access to Apple Health data (such as activity, heart rate, sleep, and VO₂ max) to refine your life estimate. This data is read directly from HealthKit on your device and is never transmitted outside of it. Memento does not store your raw Health data; it only uses it at the moment of calculation.

You can revoke Health access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Memento.

Analytics and crash reporting

Memento uses TelemetryDeck for privacy-friendly, anonymous usage analytics and Sentry for crash reporting and stability monitoring. Neither service receives personally identifiable information, and both are configured to respect your privacy.

TelemetryDeck collects anonymous signals about feature usage (for example, which screens are viewed) to help us understand how people use Memento and prioritise improvements. These signals contain no names, emails, or personal content, only anonymous event counts. You can learn more about TelemetryDeck's privacy practices at telemetrydeck.com/privacy.

Sentry collects crash reports and session data to help us identify and fix bugs. These reports include technical diagnostic information (device model, OS version, stack traces) but no personal content or identifying information.

If you have opted in to share analytics with Apple, Apple may also provide us with anonymised, aggregate crash reports through App Store Connect. These reports contain no personally identifiable information and are used solely to improve app stability.

Purchases

All purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. Memento does not collect or store your payment information. Purchase history is managed entirely by Apple and is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data deletion

You can delete all your data at any time from within the app: Settings → Delete All Data. This permanently removes everything Memento has stored on your device. If iCloud sync is enabled, your data will also be removed from iCloud.

Uninstalling the app removes local data from your device. If iCloud sync was enabled, you can manage your iCloud data in Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage.

Children's privacy

Memento is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this app, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the effective date above and notify you through the app or the App Store update notes. Continued use of Memento after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
